EC wishes to thank all of the members who signed their company names onto the merit shop construction letter to Congress and the White House. The letter, which urged Members of Congress to oppose the Employee Free Choice Act and any compromise language on EFCA, was signed by more than 3,000 construction and construction related companies that belong to IEC and to the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).While the chances of EFCA passing, as it is currently written, in the Senate are slim, pro-EFCA parties will continue their push for compromise. This approach should be extremely worrisome for merit shop contractors, as it could include something such as “equal access” (on work time) to employees for union organizers
